Warming Up The Community

spreading warmth…one coat at a time.

A 2-degree drop in body temperature results in reduced heart rate, loss of coordination, and confusion. Help us spread warmth by donating coats to our @onewarmcoat drive November 6-10 at The Salon Professional Academy. #warmamillion #igavewarmth

The Salon Professional Academy is hosting a community drive to collect clean, gently worn, warm coats, hats, mittens, boots, and/or scarves. Area residents are invited to make a difference in our local community by donating to our Warming Up The Community drive and helping The Salon Professional Academy reach their goal. Donations can we brought into the Academy between Mon. November 6 and Friday November 10. Monday-Thursday donations are accepted 8:30am to 5:00pm. On Friday we will continue accepting donations from 8:30am to 7:30pm. To celebrate and give thanks, we will be hosting a “thank you festival” on Fri, November 10 from 3pm to 7:30pm. There will be hot chocolate, warm cider, a bounce house, camp fires, s’mores, hot dog roasting, face painting, and fun!

Do you have coats in your closet that you no longer wear – donate them! Stop by our @onewarmcoat drive at The Salon Professional Academy November 6-10 and donate your gently worn coats to a great cause! #warmamillion

“We are so excited about our upcoming One Warm Coat drive and hope the community will support us.  There are nearly 50 million Americans currently living in poverty and struggling to provide a warm coat for themselves or their families.  One Warm Coat’s program helps us keep all of the coats we collect in this community, which will make a big difference for our neighbors who need a coat” said Coat Drive Ambassador and local resident.

Each year, hundreds of thousands of gently worn coats are distributed across North America to children, women and men in need through One Warm Coat’s Coat Drive program. “We are so grateful for our Coat Drive Ambassadors, like The Salon Professional Academy!  It is because of our incredible volunteers that we have been around for 25 years, helping get coats to our neighbors who need them. Thanks to The Salon Professional Academy’s efforts, many people in this community will have a much warmer winter”, commented Jennifer Stockard, President and Chief Executive Officer of One Warm Coat.

One Warm Coat is a national non-profit organization that works to provide a free, warm coat to any person in need and raises awareness of the vital need for warm coats.  One Warm Coat supports individuals, groups, companies and organizations across the country by providing the tools and resources needed to hold a successful coat drive.  Coats are distributed in the communities where they were collected, to any person in need, without charge, discrimination or obligation. Over the past 25 years, One Warm Coat has worked with its volunteers to give away nearly 5 million coats.

TSPA Rochester Open House

Open House

Co-Owners Daniel Link and Jessica Amos

As of August 1st, 2016, Daniel Link, President of Marc Daniel Salon, Maple Grove and Jessica Amos, Owner of Hair Studio 52, Rochester bought the Rochester School of Hair Design and then partnered with The Salon Professional Academy. Over the last year we have been working hard on updating curriculum to be a Redken endorsed academy, adding massage therapy program, and remodeling our building. We are excited to partner with TSPA because,

TSPA is a certified Redken Business Resource and are the only beauty schools in the country awarded the ‘Recognized by Redken for Excellence in Education’ designation.”

On September 11, 2017 we invited the community to join us at our Open House where we wanted to showcase the transformation in becoming The Salon Professional Academy of Rochester! We wanted to share with the licensed professional community our location that we will be having advanced classes available to become the education hub. We also want local salons to know what they can expect from our graduates as they move into the workforce.  In addition, we want future students to know more about our Cosmetology and Massage Therapy programs, and welcome them to meet current students and educators. We loved bringing guests from the community  to learn more about our school and that they are welcome to come in to receive a full menu of services for hair, makeup, nails, and massage at discounted prices.

Jill, Guest Services Coordinator, waiting to greet guests at our Open House!

As guests walked into TSPA Rochester (The Salon Professional Academy of Rochester) on Monday evening they were greeted with friendly faces and wonderful gifts. The fun didn’t  stop there, as they moved around our newly renovated space they had opportunities to speak with students, educators, staff, and owners. We over-heard many incoming guests exclaim  how much they loved the remodel and decor. Guests had the opportunity to learn about the cosmetology program and see some of the student work displayed. Students had prepared before and after pictures of their work as well as special occasion styles on mannequins. They also were able to enjoy complimentary chair massages by our current massage students. Open House attendees enjoyed appetizers, beverages, and were entered into drawings through out the evening. They even had the opportunity to stop at our Selfie Station to snap a pictures of themselves to post on social media with #tsparoch for the chance to win a night out! We rounded out the evening by enjoying a presentation by Redken on a smoky ombre color trend and had the chance to hear from co-owners Daniel Link and Jessica Amos about the transition of the school. The co-owners along with Sally from Salon Centric then had the chance to draw the winners from each category, which you can find below.

We were eager to introduce all of our staff and educators as we have added some new faces to our growing team! You can find updated headshots information about our team here. We are excited to currently have 3 Cosmetology Educators, 2 Massage Therapist Educators, along with the rest of our staff. If you did not get a chance to meet everyone on Monday evening, make sure to stop in and introduce yourself soon!

Head on over to our Media Gallery to see more fun images from our Open House!

Massage Therapy Training For Healing Recovery

Massage Therapy & Health Care

More Americans Discussing Massage With Their Health Care Providers.Massage Therapy Classes Minnesota

Massage Therapy is earning attention from the healthcare industry, particularly, at the Mayo Clinic. The clinic recently announced that “Doctors and certified massage therapists at the clinic work together to coordinate a massage therapy treatment plan for an injury or condition as part of your care plan.”(Mayo Clinic, Feb 2016).  With the combination of more and more Americans discussing massage as an accompanying treatment for their injury, disease or condition and the open-mindedness of healthcare providers; integrative medicine is igniting the demand for massage therapy careers in the Mayo-Clinic area.

Until recently, persons most likely entered the massage therapy profession as a second career. Today, between integrative medicine practices and patients requesting that massage be incorporated into their treatment plan, Massage Therapists will be highly sought after, especially within healthcare organizations that have not historically, integrated massage therapy into treatments plans. The health care industry is rapidly helping to create a lucrative full-time career shift versus part-time for massage therapists. Any persons considering becoming a Massage Therapist will want to ensure they have earned the credentials that will help them earn partnerships amongst health care providers, health care organizations, and insurance companies during these growing and demanding times.

To learn more about your future as a Massage Therapist and our massage therapy program, please feel free to stop by, email or call admissions at 507-990-2347. Learn more about how TSPA Rochester can help you become a massage therapist here!
