Daniel Link began his career as a stylist in 1988 after graduating from Cosmetology School in Fargo, ND. After working 14 years behind the chair and overseeing the creative and educative direction for 425 hairdressers at a large company in Minneapolis, MN, the culmination of a lifelong dream was brought to reality in May 2002 when Daniel opened MarcDaniel Salon located in Maple Grove, MN. The salon is the bold expression of his vision and over 25 years in the industry. Of those 25 years, 23 have been committed to training and empowering successful stylists. The salon has been named “Best Salon” 4 years in a row.
The salon’s core services are a reflection of Daniel’s philosophy of specialization. Having worked with some of the world’s best stylists and on the most glamorous shows in the industry, he developed an appreciation for the artistic benefits brought about by focusing on a singular area of expertise and developing it to the highest possible level. Daniel stays true to the art that has always been his passion, noting that there is a great difference between giving someone a haircut and giving someone a haircut EXPERIENCE.
Education has always been a large part of Daniel’s philosophy, not only for his clients and himself, but for his staff as well. Daniel spent a large part of his career on the road doing platform work and providing specialized cutting curriculum for some of the top salon systems in the country. He has studied under some of the most influential names in the business. He completed three levels of study at the New York Academy under Jacques Dessage, has shared the stage with Annie Humphrey and Tim Hartley from Vidal Sassoon in London, as well as Sam Brocoto, Richard Hudavoni, Rocco Altobelli and Orbie’ to name a few. He is an annual attendee at London’s Salon International show and makes semi-annual visits to New York to view trends. It’s now his opportunity to provide that education for new generations in the industry. His involvement with many schools in the industry paved his path to realizing the importance of following his journey to Academy ownership.
“I am very excited to be part of what is happening in our industry and specifically with THE SALON PROFESSIONAL ACADEMY and the team we have assembled to lead this necessary change in the way we educate those with a passion and desire to succeed in our business”.
